Toy/Book Donation Policy
1. Acceptance Criteria:
- Donations must be in good condition—no broken, damaged, or heavily worn items.
- Books should be relevant, age-appropriate, and free from significant markings or tears.
- Toys should be clean, safe, and suitable for the age group served by the library.
2. Donation Process:
- Donors should contact the library in advance to discuss the donation.
- Donations can be dropped off at designated times and locations.
- Large donations should be scheduled in advance.
3. Evaluation:
- All items will be reviewed by library staff to ensure they meet quality and relevance standards.
- The library reserves the right to accept or decline any donation based on current needs and space availability.
4. Acknowledgment:
- A receipt will be provided upon request for tax purposes, listing the number of items donated.
- No valuation of donated items will be provided by the library.
5. Usage:
- Donated items may be added to the library's collection, used in programs, or sold in library fundraisers.
- The library reserves the right to distribute or dispose of items as it sees fit.
6. Restrictions:
- The library does not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, VHS tapes, or items containing outdated or inappropriate content.
- Toys with small parts unsuitable for children under three years old or that do not meet safety standards will not be accepted.
7. Disposal of Unaccepted Items:
- Items not meeting the library's criteria may be donated to other organizations or responsibly recycled.
8. Confidentiality:
- Personal information of donors will be kept confidential and used solely for acknowledgment purposes.
